Although born in Indiana, Dr. Lunstrum spent most of his early years in Tallahassee. Following his undergraduate studies in Biology at Florida State University in 1997, Dr. Lunstrum attended the University of Florida College of Dentistry, graduating in 2001 with his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.
September 11, 2001 was his second day of work – as an associate in Tallahassee. Having joined the National Guard during dental school, he soon found himself working many weekends screening troops being deployed overseas. He was called to active duty in late 2005, serving as a dentist at Camp Phoenix – an army base outside of Kabul, Afghanistan. He made multiple trips into Kabul and the countryside treating local people, most of whom had never seen a dentist.
Upon his return from active service he was drawn to the Space Coast by its beauty and comfortable afternoon summer breezes – with the proximity to cruise ports being an added bonus. He found the location of the office on the Indian River to be very tranquil and relaxing, which is an ideal atmosphere for a dental practice!
Dr. Lunstrum is active in organized dentistry, being a member of:
- Academy of General Dentistry
- American Dental Association
- Florida Dental Association
- As well as other affiliate organizations.
He frequently attends advanced continuing education courses – some years attaining over 150 hours, far in excess of the 30 hours required by the State Board of Dentistry every two years. This allows him to stay current on new materials and procedures.
